Optimize Complex Drilling Processes Through Multi-Layer Stacks
Lübbering’s Electronic Drills and Smart Box together give aerospace and automative assemblers unmatched insights into their drilling applications and tool usage.
The integrated thrust sensor in the Lübberig Advanced Drilling Unit (L.ADU) enables material detection, identifies the breaking point and adjusts the drill to maximize perfect drilling in the shortest process time. This simplifies and accelerates drilling through complex layer stacks like Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) and CFRP/titanium alloy.
The L.ADU stores data on each drill event. When connected to the Smart Box, the combination generates data diagrams in real-time, ideal for investigation.
The Smart Box acts as an intermediate, portable storage device, enabling analysis at the work station, or transferred later to the central IT MES system. Analyze them and then automate the strategy for your next drill cycles. The results?
- More holes, consistently drilled
- Very short process times in CFRP and other multi-layer stacks
- 1 shot drilling + countersinking
- Data sets of the complete drill strategy
- Tool usage data capture
- Improved tool uptime and life.
- Near total debris collection with the optional Sine-Feed add-on.
Record and Spread Process Parameters to other L.ADUs.
The Smart Box is highly portable within a manufacturing assembly system. Data can be collected and then transferred to any connected L.ADU, or to the internal IT system for macro-analysis. Up to nine different drilling strategies can be stored in a Smart Box.
The system registers every single drilling event, and creates an XLSX log file for the drilling time and all relevant parameters. All activities and information are stored chronologically, simplifying later analysis.
If you are waiting for one more good reason to move from pneumatic to electronic drilling, the Smart Box may be it. Contact us to learn more.
